The Rhondda Colleries Commemorative Coasters (1994) have been re-issued and are available for sale to the general public from the places listed below. A placemat is also available.

Rhondda Collieries celebrated its Golden Jubilee on the 1st December 1950. The original members commenced coal mining operations at Rhondda in December 1900.
In 1978 this was a modern dense medium cyclone coal preparation plant - commissioned in January 1997. This plant reliably produced in excess of 600,000 tonnes of product coal per annum.
Rhondda Collieries was rejuvenated in the mid 1970's with the construction of a new administration building in 1976.
The purchase of continuous mining systems in the late 1960's set up Rhonda's rejuvenation, and by the early 1980's Rhondda had well established itself as a reliable supplier of good consistent quality coal.
The Rhondda No. 1 Shaft 1922. Rhondda Collieries - Mining Coal since 1900 The Rhondda No. 1 shaft poppett head is the symbol of the long standing Rhondda Collieries mining company.
Rhondda No. 1 - pit bottom and horses 1905. Horse drawn skips of coal were delivered to the pit bottom for raising to the surface via the shaft.

The book is also available at the Ipswich Historical Society, "Cooneana" site, 1041 Redbank Plains Rd, New Chum 4303, Ph (07) 3282 0358 (limited opening hours). The coasters are $18.00 a set of six. Also for sale is a placemat depicting the Rhondda No. 1 Shaft, from a different angle to the coaster of the same description. These are currently being sold at $15.00 each at the above outlets. |
