Gathering of Miners

 

 

 

 

 

Rhondda Collieries celebrated its Golden Jubilee on the 1st December 1950. The original members commenced coal mining operations at Rhondda in December 1900.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Rhondda Coal Preparation Plant 1978

 

 

 

 

 

In 1978 this was a modern dense medium cyclone coal preparation plant - commissioned in January 1997. This plant reliably produced in excess of 600,000 tonnes of product coal per annum.

Rhondda Collieries was rejuvenated in the mid 1970's with the construction of a new administration building in 1976.

 

 

 

 

 


Underground Continuous Miner

 

 

 

 

 

The purchase of continuous mining systems in the late 1960's set up Rhonda's rejuvenation, and by the early 1980's Rhondda had well established itself as a reliable supplier of good consistent quality coal.

Rhondda Collieries - Mining Coal since 1900

The Rhondda No. 1 shaft poppett head is the symbol of the long standing Rhondda Collieries mining company.

Horse drawn skips of coal were delivered to the pit bottom for raising to the surface via the shaft.

The coasters are $18.00 a set of six.
